CINCINNATI - place matters is a funders collaborative formed in 2006 to initiate and manage a place-based investment pilot project in three strategically important, historic neighborhoods in the Greater Cincinnati area: Avondale, Covington and Price Hill. The private sector funders supporting the effort are The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, LISC of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky, NeighborWorks America, PNC Bank, SC Ministry Foundation, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and US Bank. The mission of place matters is to achieve significant, measurable changes in the lives of individuals and families in the selected neighborhoods, while improving community conditions. The funders also seek changes to local systems (funding flows to neighborhoods, public policies, etc.) that will lead to more supportive contexts for development in our communitys low-income neighborhoods.
