Preparing for the Phone Call

These are the questions you will be asked during the pre-application phone call. You may be asked more questions and follow-up questions.

Organization Questions

  • Have you read SC Ministry Foundation’s website before calling?
  • Is your organization a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization?
  • Is your organization a public or government-sponsored school, college, or organization?
  • Is there a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati currently involved with your organization? If so, who is the Sister of Charity of Cincinnati currently involved and how is she involved? (If on Board, please identify committee and what length of time).
  • Do you have an audit? If so, did you receive a management letter?
  • If you received a management letter, has your organization responded to the auditors and have corrected the deficiencies?

Program Questions

  • Is this a core program responsive grant request, a capacity building request or a planning grant request for a pilot program?
  • Is this request aligned with your strategic plan?
  • Is the program new or an expansion of an existing program? If so, do you have a business plan that indicates sustainability? (A business plan uses a combination of a marketing plan, measurable outcomes-based strategic plan, an operational/management plan, and a financial plan to indicate the financial impact of a specific program on an organization. SC Ministry Foundation look s for at least 2-3 years of sustainability and diversified funding.)
  • Describe the program. Identify the best practice or evidence-based practices on which your program is based.
  • What is the timeline to begin?
  • What are the measurable outcomes (change in condition or behavior) you are tracking? If the program is new, what are the proposed measurable outcomes?
  • What is the program budget and total organizational budget? What percentage of the program budget are you asking for?
  • What are the other sources of funding for this program?
  • If your organization employs a religious, are they receiving equivalent salary and benefits (including pension) comparable to a lay person?
