Responsive Grant Request Process

Please note:
Due to budget limitations, all funding requests will be considered with greater discretion and discernment.

A history of grant support with SC Ministry Foundation will not necessarily guarantee future funding or funding at previous levels.

Step 1

Read and Review Responsive Grants Section of Website

Before proceeding with a request, reviewing this information will help to identify if your organization aligns with our grant-making priorities, requirements, and limitations.

Reminder: The Foundation does not respond to inquiries to discuss potential pre-applications via email. In the interest of being fair to those we serve outside the Cincinnati area, the Foundation’s staff also cannot respond to requests to meet in person or to meet via a phone meeting.

Step 2

All Funding Requests Begin with a Required Phone Call to (513) 347-1122

  • After reviewing the responsive grant information on the foundation’s website, a phone call to the Foundation’s main phone line (513) 347-1122 to discuss your funding request is the next required step.
  • Please call (513) 347-1122 during the dates designated for the phone call schedule. Phone calls are accepted Monday through Friday during regular office hours (8 am to 4:30 pm).
  • After you have called (513) 347-1122 and stated that you are prepared to answer the phone call questions, you will be referred to a program officer.

Step 3

Pre-application

  • After the phone call and discussion with a program officer, you will be notified if your organization has been given approval to submit a pre-application.
  • The pre-application consists of a cover page and a one-page proposed project description.
  • Send the completed pre-application with documentation of 501(c)3 status in one of the following ways:
    • Mail: SC Ministry Foundation; Attn: Donna Jo Smiley; 345 Neeb Road; Cincinnati, Ohio 45233
    • Fax: (513) 347-1017
  • SC Ministry Foundation will acknowledge receipt of your pre-application and 501(c)3 status by the next business day. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within that time, please contact (513) 347-1122.
  • The pre-application and required documents must be received by SC Ministry Foundation before 4:00 pm Eastern time on the scheduled due date.   Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit documents as early as possible to avoid unpredictable delays through email or postal mail. Edits to applications are permitted after timely submission. However, there is no exception to the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.

Step 4

Full Grant Application and Required Participation in the Grant Application Process

After reviewing your organization’s pre-application, the Foundation may invite your organization to submit a full application for your funding request. In some cases, an expedited funding process for smaller grants may be offered to an organization.

All correspondence regarding the notification of grant awards is sent via U.S. Postal Service with a handwritten signature from the Foundation’s President and Executive Director.

If your organization is invited to submit a full grant application, at least one representative from your organization will be required to participate in the grant application video conference: (see schedule.)  Failure to participate indicates your organization’s withdrawal from the application process.

In addition, your organization may be invited to participate in a Planning and Development workshop.

Refer to the Grant Request Schedule for all the application process deadlines and event dates.
